Default new shock question

Anyone using the new performance 2.2 shocks by rough country. I am getting the lift, but not sure if those shocks are good for an extra $160 bucks or if I should get something else. I have also heard people getting a very harsh ride with shock extenders. If anyone has some info I would appreciate it.

I heard the opposite...they liked the 2.2's ride, and, as for the extenders - as you are using the same shocks with the extenders...there's no reason for the ride to be harsher...its the same, but everything is simply shifted down, top and bottom.

Hey theo, my RC shocks came in a week ago, but they were missing the rear bushings and sleeves, so RC is sending them to me UPS.
I wish they would of had the lift and shock option when I ordered my lift kit, now I'm out an extra $20 bucks for having to order them seperately, and I have to wait an extra 2 weeks to get these shocks put on because of missing parts!
As soon as UPS delivers I'll tell you how the ride is, and if it's worth the extra $$$.

Thanks guys. My reason for getting the new shocks is that I think I will get a little better articulation, than the shock extenders. Am I right or wrong?

Probably right.

I don't have collaped/extended figures for the 2.2's you'd have though...but, most of the replacement shocks are closer to having 10" of travel than the stock 7.5".

That means that if the mount moved the 7.5" shock down 2"....lets say it would allow droop to where a 9.5" shock would have in the original mount points....but, it might NOT allow full stuffage of the tires back into the wells, due to additional bumpstop extensions, etc....to prevent over compression of the short shock, etc.

The stock shocks are roughly 14.5" collapsed, 22" extended....so dropping the top mount 2" would mean it would only collapse as far as a shock that compressed to 16.5", etc.

So - Yes, the new shock would PROBABLY be better than the extensions as far as wheel travel/articulation....but I'd need the measurements to actually know.

(IF anyone has them laying around, etc...measure the collapsed/extended lengths)
