Default New Tire/Rims Poll

Wanted to hear what everyone had to say about what tires/rims I should get. Please chose a tire/rim size and a backspacing option.

This will be going on a 2011 Wrangler Unlimited. It is my daily driver, 50-60 miles per day mostly interstate. Ride quality is important. I have narrowed down my tires to 33 or 35 Duratracs or MT/Rs based on whether I go with the TF leveling kit or OME 2" Coil Lift. I have narrowed my wheel choices to Pro Comp 7069s or Black Rock 909b.

How about a little more info? Not enough here to help you.

What kind of wheeling do you do? Rock crawling? Mudding? Mild trails?

Is this a daily driver? Just an occasional venture off-road? Full-time off roader?

How big of tires are you considering? 32"? 33"? 35"? 37"? Bigger?

What kind of rims do you plan to put on? Beadlocks?

I would have different opinions/answers based on your intended use.

Definitely a great choice to get the bfg km2 I went with 35x12.50x17 and xd addicts matte black -12mm offset. Gives me between 4.5 and 4.7 backspacing. Great set up. 2.5 inch lift tf bb. No rubbing. It touched the factory aid dam so I ripped it out (plastic skid plate)

33 or 35, have not decided between a leveling kit and a 2.5" coil lift.

My choice is down to pro comp 7069s or Black Rock 909b.

I do not want to, but I like those 2 tires and that is all they offer in the 16 inch rims of my tire size. Did not know if it was a big enough deal to shift me to 17 inch rims. I prefer the more sidewall look of the 16, but if E rated tires are that big of a difference in ride quality I am going to go with 17s.

I chose everything. Decide on a lift and tire size at least. A poll that that many variables is pretty worthless...

Since you will be doing mild trails and a lot of intestate driving, I would think the Duratracs would be a better choice than the MTRs. As the MTRs wear, they start to get a little noisier. They are definitely overkill for your intended use.

If you go with a bigger tire (35"), you'll need about 4.7" of backspace. A smaller, narrower tire requires a bit less. Get a rim wide enough to meet the manufacture's recommend wheel width. The MTRs should have a 8.5-11 inch wheel. Same with the 33" Duratracs.

I'd look at hub-centric rims or consider rings to help center the tire on the hub, especially for the amount of high-speed interstate driving you do.

No opinion on 16" vs 17". However, you'll probably have difficulty finding a 15" wheel that won't have brake clearance issues.

Good luck!
