Default New Tire Suggestion

I need to put new tires on my 2008 Wrangler Unlimited. I am def not putting those crappy stock goodyears back on!

Does anyone have any good suggestions? I drive the jeep daily on paved roads but on weekends I do lot of camping. I'm looking to spend around $150-$175 per tire.

Thanks!

Do you want an aggressive look? Go with a Mud-terrain...

If you want moderate aggressive look go with a All-terrain.

Are you going to be using your stock rims or purchasing new rims?
What size tire are you looking at 33's, 35's?
Do you want a wider tire?

Mud Tires I like Cooper STT, Toyo M/T (Pricey)

All-terrains - Dick Cepek FC-II's or Mickey T (ATZ's)

Most tires for a 17" rim will be around 200 to 250 each. Mine were 260 each.

4WD.com had a deal if you spend $250.00 they mail you $50 card back. I bought 4 tires on 4 separate orders and that paid for the 5th tire I purchased Dick Cepeck FC-II 315/75/R16. regular price was ~260.. these were 10% off plus the $50 gift card that almost ended up with 30% off on the whole deal.

Didn't you have to pay way more for shipping on 4 separate order?

Nope.. I picked it up locally at 4wheelparts store. Only had to pay local sales tax.

If you want to maintain stock suspension, look in the for sale section of the forum or on Craigslist for some Rubicon take-offs. Plenty of folks buy Rubicons with the 32" BFG Mud KMs and take them off with a few hundred miles to replace them with larger tires. Brand new take-offs (less than 1,000 miles) go for anywhere between $350 and $500 for all 5 wheels & tires. Tires only go for less than that.

Otherwise, look into Goodyear Duratracs, BFG All-terrains, and others depending on the tread pattern you are looking for. But I would seriously start in the "For Sale" forum.

Good luck.
