Newb Flashpaq Questions
I do significant highway driving and despite having only 1200 miles on my X I'm already growing tired of the constant downshifts with my 35s (automatic, 3.73). Other than turning the O/D off, it sounds like the least invasive and cheapest "fix"is a Flashpaq. Based on the threads I've read I understand this certainly won't cure the problem and regearing is the ideal way to go. Being a total and complete newb, I'm a little nervous about doing significant mods before I learn all the basics. In the meantime, I'll be happy if this Flashpaq limits the annoying downshifts even a little.
So now for the newb questions. Once the Flashpaq programs my X will I need to keep the Flashpaq plugged in and mount it somewhere on the dash or will I be able to unplug it without losing the modifications? I also own a 2004 Grand Cherokee. Anyone know whether the Flashpaq I buy for the 09 Wrangler will work on the Cherokee as well? If so, can it save the stock settings for these two very different vehicles?
Thanks!

I know mkjeep gave you some good reading to do but there are a lot of post in that thread. For your questions, no, you don't have to leave it plugged in, the mods you make stay programmed. You will only be able to use the Superchips on your JK. It is preprogrammed to that vehicle.
It will give you a little more power and hopefully lower the amount of downshifts. You can also use it on your grand cherokee but you have to return the jeep to stock tune before using it on another vehicle.
You better just go for a gear change. I've got 5.38's in mine with 37's that actually only measure a hair under 36 and it really could even use lower. I would hate to think what it would be like with your gears or even my stock 4.10's. Good Luck.. A gear change is not that complicated on these new Jeeps!! Mine was done for under $500.
