Default A "newbie" question...

I am new to the forum, but have owned 9 Jeeps over the passed 20 years. I purchased a 2008 Wrangler unlimited X 4 days ago. I had the dealer install a 2" lift. I am looking for advice on a wheel and tire combo to "balance" out the Jeep. I would like a 35" tire. Can I run the factory wheels w/a 35" tire? What about spacers, etc. I have been unsuccessful in getting good reliable answers from the local tire shops. Appreciate any insight...

35 are a little big for good off road flex.
yes they will fit on stock wheels but will rub.
most aftermarket wheels will take the tire away from the frame so they dont usually rub.
how do you plan on using your wrangler .
ask more ? if needed.someone will have an answer.
what town are you from?

On stock wheels, a 12.5" wide tire is gonna rub and full lock right and left (turning the steering). You'll need to get a more appropriate back spacing to get your tire further away from your frame as mentioned above. You could use wheel spacers... some are for them, some are against them... personally I've never used them so I don't really have anything to tell you there except its a possible option. The other option is to get new wheels... something with 4"-4.5" backspacing should be fine.

The next item you may need to address is offroading w/35's and only a 2" lift. They will rub if you flex your Jeep much while off roading. If you're gonna stay on the street, I think you'll be fine. I'm running 35's with a 3" lift and I had just some ever so slight of rubbing at full flex (disconnected) and ended up putting a 1" Body Lift on and now everything is fine.
