Default Nitrogen in my tires.

Is it my imagination - or am I really getting a bit better gas mileage running Nitrogen in my tires? Any input?

It's gotta be your imagination. Normal air is 80% nitrogen to begin with.

They say you will get better mileage, but minimal. N2 is a dry gas where compressed air has moisture in it. The moisture will expand and contract with temperature variances and the N2 will not. The constant pressure will show improved gas mileage but minimal unless you have extreme temp variances.

There is a reason Nascar uses it.....

The machine takes the air out of the tires at one time - 4 hoses and replaces them with 95% Nitrogen on re inflation.

I think you mean helium - and if I used that I would be floating with a squeeky voice.

I was told that Nitrogen's molecules are bigger than air - so they keep tire pressure constant. No leakage.

Wouldn't nitrogen filling be useless a few hundred miles down the road when you need to add more air?

Unless you go out of your way to get them re-filled with Nitrogen.

Air has been used for years. I'll stick to that for now

Good point. I'll see anyway how it works out. I have 40k on my 2007 already so I'll let you know in 10k or so. Maybe NO2 would make my tires go faster. Just kidding.

I'm guessing you dont do much trail riding where airing down is needed, if you do that must get awfully pricey and difficult to find at the trails end.
seems like alot to go thru for 15% more nitrogen.
