Talking No more Death Wobble

Yep... I finally said goodbye to the DW problem

Here's what I did...

- Retorque the trackbar to 125 ft/lbs
- Set my toe to 1/8in out
- Replace the control arms bushings, I couldn't notice that they wear until I remove the arms.

Now my JK drives awesome, no more death wobble anymore Just in time, 'cuz on friday starts the JK owners Meeting in Mexico (for more information about this event check out the Mexico section in the staging area)

Hope this helps anyone to fix this problem, because it's a pain in a$s

Good deal. I've been there.

Did you set your toe to a negative angle? Or did you just reduce your toe in by 1/8" of an inch?

Okay, I am intrigued, cause I wondered about trying this myself. Please do tell how it handles on the freeway? Is it a little slow to steer or anything?

My JK is my daily driver... and believe me, mine drives exactly the same as before the toe out (except without the DW issue )

Interesting indeed, I thought a negative toeing was used for front wheel drive vehicles to compensate for the pulling.

Interesting.

Toe out (negative Toe) is used in combination with negative Camber angle (top of tire leaning out from vertical) to reduce Camber Thrust. The Camber on the JK is not adjustable.

Toe out could have a negative effect on tire wear and handling in turns.

Do you notice a difference compared to stock in the willingness of the JK to go into a turn or return to a straight line once you exit the turn?

If you are going to run this way, I would suggest keeping an eye on the edges of your front tires for wear.

I think people are getting confused with toe out and toe in, perhaps even the OP.

Did you adjust your toe so the front of your tires are closer together or further apart?

Toe in is the front of the wheels pointing towards each other.

Toe out is the front of the wheels pointing away from each other.

The toe angle on a Jeep with 33" tires should be set toe-in at 1/4".

Bigger tires may need a bit more toe-in.

Setting for toe out may make the jeep a little wandery when you want it to go straight and will steer very quickly. Too much toe-in will make steering feel slugggish.

So why is the OP and everyone else saying they are going with toe-out?
