Default No muffler JK 2DR

This is what a 2Dr JK sounds like without its muffler video.

Had to take it off after off-roading accident with a tree root in reverse.

Doesn't sound much different then it does with some aftermarket exhausts, of course I'm sure some of the subleties of the sound get lost in these lower quality videos.

Did you notice any loss or gain in performance?

I can't imagine that leaving it off is good for the engine as you have NO back pressure now.

Agreed, however it has been my experience that running without a muffler does seem to decrease the power of the engine somewhat in the lower torque range.
It can be quite costly, not so much as far as engine damage, as I don't believe it will cause damage, but rather for those excess noise citations.

I honestly do not know as it was not my jeep. I think it sounds kewl but would sound better with an aftermarket muffler. Its going back to stock as soon as a new tail pipe is put back on. The stock one got bent so its pointing almost straight down.

We've seen claims that people with the dual exhaust (Gibson I think) have gained overall HP at high RPMs, but have sacrificed low-end torque, which is really what matters in most situations.

Mine sounded great at idle and a little bump of the throttle.......but you get it around 2500-3000 rpm...and it sounds like a muffler cut off a Honda....seriously a buick passed by the other direction with a rotting exhaust and sounded the same....

...mine was off for 2-days then got a flowmaster 40-series put on....LOVE IT...power came back!!

....as fas as a loss of MPG...that most likely came from the heavy right foot cause it sounds good
