Default Northridge bolt upgrade

I was going to order the bolt kit to upgrade my front end. But I've been hearing that the bolt don't fit the RK front LCAs! Is this true? And if so what do you do? Drill out the mounts on the LCAs or is there another fix to help with premature wear?

The bolts don't fit the RK joint end but it does fit the frame mounted end. You can drill out the RK joint end to get the bolts to fit. I decided not to do that and just used the regular 14mm bolts which have remained tight as can be for the year I've had it installed.

Should mention that the bolts do fit the track bars do you are good there. It's just the control arms where you may need to drill.

How hard do you think it will be to drill. I have a drill press an vice to hold the arm I just don't want to junk the joints cause those aren't cheap.

But still good I can use it in the track bar mounts

I suck at drilling and don't have a drill press so that's why I didn't do mine. But the amount you are taking off is so small that I think it will be easy especially since you have a press.

It won't be hard at all.

14mm = 0.5512 inches
9/16 = 0.5625 inches

That's .0113 inches of a difference. Or roughly 3.5 times the thickness of a human hair. You're not going to weaken the joint, and it will not be hard at all. Especially with a drill press.

The upgrade kit fixes two problems

1) goes to SAE Bolts from metric bolts to fit the SAE bushings
2) goes from fully threaded bolts to shoulder bolts to help prevent ware on the bushing.

The original kit included all SAE shoulder bolts, and enough for your front and rear trackbar and LCAs. Then people discovered the 2011+ track bars used a metric frame side bushing and a SAE axle side bushing and NR4x4 started selling those kits with two 14mm shoulder bolts.

If the RK LCA lowers use 14mm you might be able to get a custom kit from NR4x4 with 14mm shoulder bolts.

Also the kit includes enough for front and rear, but since death wobble is a front axle problem you can be cheap like me and go in with a buddy and buy a single kit and use it to fix the front bolts of two Jeeps leaving the rear bolts OEM.

I like the idea of two going in on the kit lol. But that's for the suggestions ill have to call up Northridge an see if I can have a custom kits sent. Ill be ordering the teraflex hinge carrier an a new high jack along with it so hopefully they can work with me.

Thanks for the suggestion guys

If you already have a drill press, you're home free. Do not use a drill, get a 9/16" reamer and it's a 5 second job per CA. Don't over think it, easily done with a reamer and you'll be happy it's right in the end.
