Default oil help

i have a 07jeep and have not changed the oil yet. When should I do this and how often should I change it? What's a good oil?

Everybody seems to have their own opinion on this. IMO, you can't go wrong with following the factory specs in your owner's manual. If you do a search you'll get hundreds of posts on this topic which will give you a great overall view about it.

I changed at 1500 and will do it again at 3000, and then every 3000 thereafter. I use Ford/Motorcraft 5w20 semi-synthetic.

This might actually be a good survey to post.

Do you

(1) Change your oil yourself;

(2) have the Jeep Dealer change the oil;

(3) use Jiffy Lube or a similar type fast food oil shop?

I got 8 free oil changes from the dealer, so I've been letting them do it thus far, I will take over when those are done. I will never trust my vehicles to the quick lube shops, too many horror stories about those places.

Many years ago I used to use Jiffy Lube....One time they put my drain plug in hand tight and I wrote it off as a freak thing. Not too long after that they replaced my oil filter and didn't remove the old gasket....NEVER again will my tires see thier lot.
