Default Old School Rollbar Padding and Tape

Has anyone removed the factory rollbar pading and zipper cover to replace it with the old school foam padding and black, wide, electrical tape? How does it look? Best to keep the factory set up?

I've thought about it, I like the beefier look of the JK roll bar. That was... until I realized its basically the same size of my TJ's and just surrounded by flimsy plastic

for some reason I cannot stand the look of the roll bar, the padding, the shape, the sound bar etc. I have thought about cutting behind the sound bar and running it straight diagonally down to the base kinda like the old cjs. Instead i just chose to leave the top on.
