Olympic Rock Rails....Body Damage
Well today i decided i had the day off and i would remove my Olympic Rock rails to be cleaned behind and repainted due to good amounts of the powder coat chipping from offroading.
As i unbolted them i realized how much more damage they allowed than expected. I do realize i offroad and have done some hard trails which put a good amount of stress on them but the damage they caused i think is from poor design.
It is hard to see in the picture but both sides of my jeep have a crease down the side where the rails have pushing into the body. in one spot the the rail rubbed a hole through the paint. The rails where properly mounted and checked.
At the passenger side back door the body as been pushed in to the point that the paint is chipping off.
SO my next question is how do the PureJeep sliders hold up? Should i just go to a frame mounted rail?

Pretty typical damage from any slider that's body mounted and beat on pretty good. For anybody who thinks a body mounted slider will protect the body 100% is deff mistaken. Go frame mounted if you want to ever save the body from damage.
I just put some rocker guardz on the fiances heep to start, so now we'll build some rock sliders and either weld or bolt to the frame. Only way to truly protect the rocker area and doors. Might not need the rocker guardz but it's better to have the protection and not use it than need it when you don't have it
