I'll start.
The OME shocks provide a firm ride that is better than stock. As far as the design of the shock it comes with the old school outer cover over the rod that protects the rod from dirt and being bent.

I have a Rubicon 4 door and the OEM shock worked good for me. I got the Bilstein shock when I got my lift. The ride is almost the same at when it was stock. I don't think you need to change unless you need a longer shock.

I run the Bilstein shocks and I was under the impression that they will provide a stiffer ride vs. the OME shocks due to their setup. I can't remember the exact wording but I was told the Bilsteins have a faster rebound effect whereas the OME tend to compress/release at a slower rate making it more of a bouncy ride. Supposedly the Bilsteins provide a good balance between on road and off-road whereas the OME are excellent off road.

That's what was told to me when i was deciding on shocks. Since most of my driving in on road, I went with what was supposed to give a better ride.

I can't believe you guys think the OMEs give a firm ride and close to stock. I find them to be too soft for on road, I got a lot more body roll and a kinda squirrelly ride. I don't like the on road feel, but they do well off road. With they said, I'm not bashing them. They are good shocks. I had a set of very stiff shocks before that and wanted a softer ride so I went with the OMEs. They soak up the bumps well but the handling suffered.

I will be getting new shocks in the near future but I need to figure out which ones as trial by error is too costly.

i have OME's and cannot complain. The 5100's ride too stiff for my liking and with the OME shocks my handling has improved and given a much more soft ride. I think coupled with HD springs they are perfect, maybe with the medium springs they're a little too soft.
