Default One of the best mods to my JK.

I'm sure alot of you have already done this. If your tired of that heavy gate not staying open while parked on an incline or the wind blowing it shut on you while putting items in the rear, get one of these shocks and that annoying problem is solved. This is a great mod that I done a while back. It's nice when it just stays open. Once installed, you'll wonder why it didn't come standard.

I agree! The hood shock mod is equally awesome!

True, one of my first mods! I also just bought a "coupling" to connect the tailgate and my tire carrier, so it does not fly around either.

What is the part # of the one you got? Where did you get it, JeepSwag or your local auto parts store?

My local O'Riely's has tons of these struts, I just don't know of which to get.

Not all of these are created equal. Look at how they attached to your gate and make an educated decision about whether you trust connecting the strut to your gate with nothing more than a couple of sheet metal screws. I have had the swag heavy duty version for many years and never had a problem. I've seen plenty of people with less heavy duty setups who wish they had made a better choice.

Very good point! You truely get what you pay for on this item! Sheet metal screws are a joke!

The jeep that i purchased on Tuesday already has a fix for this, although it's something more like you'd find in a door hinge of a regular car with 3 different levels of how open the door is.
