Default Only one key fob.........

I need to get another fob and learned I need to have two existing fobs to program a new one, or I have to go to a locksmith.

i found a thread in here that the op got the flip style fob and I am wondering if I should gamble.

What do do you guys think?

how much do you think it will cost to program and cut one or two?

the first one shows it will work with the numbers I found on my current key.

The price varies by location, but yeah, a locksmith programming a new key should be a lot cheaper than the dealership.

I have tried two different ebay versions of flip key, one that you swap internals from a functional key, and the second had the internals and just needed to be cut and programmed. For me, they are hit or miss - ordered two new fobs both times, and got one functional key each time.

Yeah, it was opposite problems on them. First set, the blank blades were robust and cut fine, it was the bodies of the fobs that caused the issue. The internals/fob on the second set were fine, but the blank blades were thin/cheap. One cracked/chipped as the locksmith was cutting it, the other made it through ok.

Not sure if you saw my comment on the other thread you probably looked at, but I wouldn't do the blade flipping key. I used one of those for a bit, on and off.....and one day I randomly snagged that blade on something while out at a store.....it bent like butter! I was fortunate to be able to bend it back well enough to get it to work and hobble home. That was that. key went in the trash.

I found a listing for a single red one that looks like the oem for $8.84. I ordered one, and figured I will only be out that much, if it doesn’t work. And I got the red one so I can tell which is which. Lol

yep, that was what I was referring to earlier. I accidentally typed “fob” bent, instead of the key. So I got the red one that looks oem.
