I have my JK for a week now and have been doing a lot of research here and have been confusedFrom what I have gathered here on the site, this is my plan.
1; wheels will be cragar soft 8's 16x8 w/5"bs or similar
2; 33x12.5-16 or 285/75-16 tires
3; TF leveling kit

Next are a couple of questions
1; I have 225/75-16 on steel wheels, will I need a computer flash
(the axle tag says 373) w/auto trans
2; Should I get shock adaptors or new shocks? And what about new bump stops yes or no

No heavy wheeling is planned, just some lite to somewhat moderate stuff

Thanks for all your opinions. Hope to start buying when I hear everyone here

Thanks Again

Well first off, welcome to the forum or at least your first official post!

Regarding your planned setup. The 16x8's with 5" BS may be a little tight for your 12.5" tire. Most likely not an issue that would cause you a problem wheeling, but you may notice a little rubbing. I would urge you to consider less backspacing though, perhaps something in the 4.25"-4.5" range. This will allow you to seemlessly move to 35's just in case you ever want to in the future. I know you don't now, but its always a possibility once you start modifying your jeep and seeing what you really like. Originally, I wanted a 2.5" budget boost kit and 33's and now have a 4.5" LA on 35's and cant wait for 37's. You'll find a lot of that on this forum...

As far as the lift goes, to run 33's, the leveling kit should be fine for your needs, but once again, I would recommend looking at something like the TF 2.5" Budget Boost with shock extensions. Its a little more money($200 more) but it will allow you to run 35's if you ever decide to in the future. It also utilizes almost all stock components such that you could go back to stock or upgrade further at any point. Also, the 2.5" with 33's does sit very nicely and looks great IMO.

On to the questions:
1. No one really NEEDS the flash but its helpful. Since you are going with 33's, you could go to the dealer and have the reflash for 32's. This will put your computer VERY close to where you want to be and your speedo shouldn't be off too much. You will notice a loss in power though since you are running the little donuts now. Your tire increase is comparable to lots of people going from 32's to 35's if not more so.
2. As mentioned in the first part of the reply, if you do go with the budget boost kit you will get extensions and bumpstops and keep the exact same flex that you had before. This kit will also serve to level out your jeep.

Hope that helps!

He hit the nail on the head for you!
TF 2.5" BB
4.25" Backspacing (you'll definitely need this if you go with the TF 2.5 kit)
