I was always under the impression that tube bumpers were weak and not built for offroading...

I had a set of Steel Horse bumpers back on my YJ and they were bent up pretty bad.. it seemed like every time i wheeled the Jeep there was a newly crushed spot.

My RR Modular bumper now has been dragged on a few rocks and no bending.. just some scratches.

I've never been a fan of them....since pulling OFF a fancy tube bumper on a new stuck Datsun pickup back in 1985 with my CJ Laredo....
Looked like it was made of exhaust pipe

It depends on the tube stock they start with, otherwise tube exoskeletons wouldn't do much good.

hmm.. i would like to think that the manufacturing of tubular bumpers now would be improved from 15+ years ago.. I just think most of the other bumpers out ther enow look like a huge steel block someone cut out of a larger chunk. I just cant bring myself to buy one. I will keep looking. Wheels and tires are coming first.

Yea, It was more like 20+ years ago...and it was junk.
That being said I did have a tube bumper on a 88 Isuzu Trooper II...cause the stock one was rusting away, and the aftermarket only had one offering.....a tube bumper...

ahhh good times

tubes are not the strongest just because the shape. triangles are the strongest shape the rectangles and so on. the mre sides the more weak point i believs. and yes i know that a circle has no sides. but it actually has an infinate amount of sides.

Default understandable

I figrued they werent as strong as other bumpers. To me that seems like a given. My jeep is only going to be used for light/medium wheeling for the time being. I just got out of college and have intentions of buying a house within the next couple of years. And my gf said no we cant just live in the jeep or buy a trailor for it, so I guess I am stuck.
