Default Opinons of my 20" and 33" set up

I've got a 2 dr Sahara JK with an automatic and the 3.73 gears. I'm in need of tires now and contemplated just getting 33" on the stock 18" rims. But I really like the look of the XD Series Monster rims. I've been going back and forth and weighed out the costs of going 35" with a lift. After reading a lot of feedback, it seems the 35" would cost quite a bit more as I would need to re-gear, plus I tow a heavy jet ski. I literally am dogging it going over the many mountain passes here in WA with my current set up. To re-gear, to the 35" and a decent kit it seems it would cost quite a bit.

What I'm about to pull the trigger on is a 2" lift, 33x12.50-20 on the 20" XD rims?

I'm excited for this and fine without 35" but how will this look? All the pics I see are 35" with 3.5" lifts on 20" rims and that looks just right so I wonder if the 33" are going to look too small or funny.

Any feedback is appreciated! Or pics of this set up I'm looking at doing would be awesome!

Try the "Show your 33's" thread and search within that thread for your criteria.
It's here: https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-wheels-tires-241/show-your-33s-9979/

more than likely, they will look gangsta but, i would check the show and tell thread posted above as if there's anywhere you might be able to find pics of this setup, it would be there.

Thanks! I was searching 20" and 33" and nothing came up, most likely my fault.

I like the look of 20's im different lol.. but if your going to do any offroading you'll eat up those 20's... its your ride do what you want man.. going to an 18 would save you money on your setup wheels and tires.. and make you a bit lighter..

I agree it will look more "street," but I dumped a lot of money in my '03 Rubicon with a Skyjacker kit, bumps, lights, etc and realized I just didn't get offroad as much as I was daily driving and towing ski to the lake. But I love the open top! Maybe that's why I went with the Sahara this time with the Nav, DVD override, backup camera, etc because I've come to terms with my posing ways.

Remember to put a rock in one of your shoes so when you get outta your jeep you have a gangsta walk to go with your rims. JJBTW

A Jeep should never be made to look like that. Poor thing. I'd WAG that ninety percent of the folks around here will agree that it will look ridiculous (for very practical reasons: If you don't know why, read a few threads about tire and wheel size before spending any money). But, hey! It's your Jeep: Do whatever you like.

I started out looking at the 35" set up with a 4" kit. That was over $7,000 when you figured gearing. Some said a drive line extension is needed, but that's been debated. Then I thought about just putting new tires on my stock 18" but they are a lot more expensive (about $330/each). So for 5, plus tax you're looking at $1900.

Then I wondered how much it would be to go aftermarket rims (a smaller size) to reduce the cost of the 33" tires. Well when you figured in the cost savings of the tires but added the cost of 5 new rims then you're over the $1900.

So then my thought changed to if I'm going to spend more than just the cost of 18" tires, how about just getting what I want. Then it went up to about $7,000.

I've really been battling this. I'm going to get a cost of re-gearing to 5.13. Anyone have a ballpark figure for both diffs with a 5.13 swap out?

If it's not too terribly bad, maybe I'll just do the 35" and get what I want. But I'll most likely keep it at 3.5 or 4" max on the lift. I want to be able to talk my way into keeping some of the lifetime warranty. Some places are cool with aftermarket stuff and we've all heard of other dealerships. But to go too radical I don't know if I could sell the within warranty specs spiel.

$1200-$1500 for a re-gear with parts and labor is usually the norm
