Default Optima Red Top

Hey ya'll, please move if this is in the wrong area.

I started putting an Optima Red Top in my JK and ran into something strange (I think). When I touch the negative cable to the post the horn BLOWS. I about crapped my pants. Did I do something wrong or is this a JK thing?

I have done batteries 1,000s of times on my TJ and never had this happen.

BTW, this Jk has no security system, so I guess it has nothing to do with that.

Thanks, 6

When I installed my winch and reconnected my battery cables my horn did beep also. It sounded like the quick beep that it does when you lock the doors with the key fob.

Yeah, it was a quick beep. After I change my pants I'll go back out and finish the job. I cut holes in the tub of my TJ several times and never looked back. Having a JK sucks!

lol....first time I d/c my battery on my VW that happened....I was shocked too...almost cracked my head on the hood...I had to go unlock the door (no remote....just vacuum locks) to get the horn to quit beeping. It happens....silly electronics. Spark plugs and lights...what more do we need?

Under control now. That was the first mod on the JK (if you call a battery a mod ). Now I have to decide on the important stuff like lifts & tires.

THANKS
