Anyone experiencing rust stains from your orfab tire carrier? Ive got these brown streaks all over the rear of my JK....WTF!!! I may have to hit this thing up with some rustoleum or something. Not even a year old!!!!

 

Yep... From the hinge bracket...the powder coat is just flaking off. The carrier itself is holding up good though.

 

Damn, those ain't cheap, either.

 

My hinge bracket hasn't, but I have had a couple problems at the strike plate. Of course, it is metal on metal there. I actually ground the opening a little larger so the tolerances weren't so tight that they took the powdercoat off.

 

I will try and post a pic or two. Its ridiculous the streaking that is going on. Im going to have to disassemble, prep and put on a REAL coating of paint. Orfab, if you are listening....put a better quality paint on this otherwise EXCELLENT tire carrier! On a scale of 1-10 I have to give it an 8 just for this reason. Had I known about this issue I still would have purchased...only I would have coated it BEFORE I installed. Not looking forward to taking this thing off to paint. But no other choice.

 

there are a few spots that are showing some rust. but overall i'm happy with it. the latch block hase rubbed all the Paint off of mine. so every so often i put a flat black over it.

 

I have some small spots on the hinge bracket where the paint has flaked off also, but I don't have any issues with stains running down from them.

 

i didnt have an issue with the stains until we got hammered with snow. From the back, it looks like my JK has the runs!
