OT--Winch Cable Question
I'm really not sure where this belongs, but here goes:
I've got a Polaris ATV with a plow that is raised and lowered by the winch. After years of raising and lowering under stress, the short length of the cable where it contacts the roller fairlead has worn and the cable broke.
What I need to do is loop the cable and clamp (right word?) or secure it so that I can attach the hook and get back to plowing. What is the best way to secure that loop? Is there something I can pick up at Lowe's that would do the trick, or perhaps an auto store?
I need a quick fix to get through th winter, and then I'll look at a longer term fix down the road, which would be a more permanent repair.
Thanks for any help! It snowed again last night, so I've got to get this thing up and running.

not sure what size line you have but these are what you want.
Shop Blue Hawk 1/4" Chain Rope Clip at Lowes.com
You might want more than one on the line to insure it doesnt slip.

Might want one of these also:
Shop Blue Hawk 1/4" Chain Wire Rope at Lowes.com
Shop Blue Hawk 1/4" Chain Wire Rope at Lowes.com
I'll pick up two of them, plus the loop! The web site says they are in stock at my local Lowes.
Get two minimum hopefully they can show you how to put them on the right way. As we say don't saddle a dead horse. the clamp part that the U bolt goes into goes on the short end of the cable and tighten it down evenly the other clamp goes the opposite way
