I recently bought the EVO kit that has reinforcements for the outer C's and the inner tube reinforcements with axle seals. Also ordered the lower control arm skids and front track bar reinforcement. I have yet to install these items, but am wondering if it is enough?. Currently i am running 37's and do have a brace going from the front pumkin to the passenger side upper control arm to help prevent bending untill i get the other items on.

trust me, what you have is more than enough and more than you really need. i ran 37's on my old front d44 WITHOUT any sleeves and just gussets and WITHOUT ANY bending of the axle tube.

honestly, all this talk about beefing up the front axle housings to ridiculous levels really makes no sense to me as it really should be the least of your concerns. certainly, you can drive safely with a bent axle housing. now a blown axle shaft or ring gear is an entire different story and a beefed up housing won't do squat to help you out there.

The outer sleeves without modifications wrap into the open stock slots of the lower control arm brackets. Then, you weld a lower control arm skid over the bracket and the outer sleeve.

Here is a pic of their kit (including inner and outers, and C gussets):

Here are pics of a modified version installed (we did both inner and outer sleeves):

Thats nice. Very nice. I want this even more now....

If the kit is incorporated into the center section, the stiffness should reduce ring gear deflection...correct? Just to play devil's advocate I think most would agree overkill is better than the alternative.

My D44 to replace my D30 is sheduled for delivery on the 23rd. I was planning on putting it right in and doing outter sleeves and C gussets later. I think I'm going to wait and do it while it is still off the jeep. I think I'm going with the RSE outter sleeves. I don't like the idea of inner sleeves just in case the Rubi e-locker ever has a problem. Should something happen to it I'd want to replace it with an ARB, since it is cheaper than a new e-locker. With the inner axle sleeves you can't run 35 spine shafts and therefore can not run an ARB locker.

That is probably a good idea, cheap insurance, whatever you want to call it. I realize that this is an old thread, but you may have noticed that one person in particular that was fairly vocal in the opinion of sleeves being overkill has since reversed his opinion...

So would going with the r-se outer axle sleeve kit be stronger than going with the EVO inner sleeves?

Guess it depends on how much you trust the method each company used to come up with their strength numbers...

EVO inner sleeves:
This product is designed to increase the TJ/JK axle housing strength by 30%
RSE outer sleeves:
Rock-Slide Engineering's outer axle sleeve kit will strengthen your Dana 30 or 44 housing by up to 45%
RSE Bombshell inner & outer sleeves:
This will strengthen your Dana 30 or 44 axle by up to 55%.
And just for comparative purposes, what Dynatrac says about the PR44 unlimited:
• Over 2 ˝ times as strong as a factory Jeep housing!! Over twice as strong as most sleeved and welded housings.
• Suspension Brackets are 50% thicker and much stronger than stock
• Equipped with Dynatrac’s own heavy-duty end forgings (aka C’s) - Some areas are over 180% thicker than stock- No gussets needed
