If I recall correctly, my SOLID's came powder coated or painted with a hammered finish. But, if you want to repaint like I did, I would sand to rough up the finish already on them, clean with an alcohol solution, prime then paint. I used Rustoleum industrial enamual. I'm sure regular spray paint would work as well. Just make sure you don't get any paint on the inside. The heat along with gear oil will probably eat it and gunk stuff up. HTH

Or wash'em with alcohol (better yet POR 15's Metal Ready) a couple of coats of Rustoleum's industrial primer, then their overcoat. It holds up well.

I just finished my Riddler covers. Like previously stated. Clean the covers inside and out, I used non-chlorinated brake cleaner. Let them air dry for about 5-10 minutes. I primed them with Rustolem red oxide primer (rattle can). Then I sprayed them with Rustolem hammer finish paint. I let them dry for a day then I recoated the covers and let them air dry for 2 days. They came out great. Like was stated above do not paint the gasket surface or the inside of the cover.
