Default Painting Bilstein 5100

I know they look nice but I'm worried about the elements taking their toll.

Any experience or advice on painting them? Does the textured surface take to any paint?

Not sure about Bilsteens but I painted ProComp Shocks (white) with a spray can clear coat and they looked new for a very long time.

I was thinking about an extra clearcoat.

Thing is that the Bilsteins aren't really painted, they are coated in something and have a brushed aluminum texture.

Chances are the shocks will go out before they loose the factory shine.

If they don't go out before then, you can pull them off, clean them up with a scotch brite pad and re-clear them with a rattle can.
