Default Painting centercaps

Hi all,

Got some black steelies for the Jeep and centercaps are a nice shiny silver color. I would like to rattle can them black. How should I prep the surface prior to painting? I was thinking of steelwool or veryfine sandpaper to scuff the surface so the paint will adhere.

thoughts?

I've thought of doing the same when I get my centercaps [unless of course, I get lucky and find black centercaps ], but I'd probably go with a fine grit sandpaper to scuff the finish enough and then rattle can it a flat black, and maybe a layer of clear on that if you want some shine.

If they are plastic, just use the Krylon plastic spray paint. I did mine and I used the satin black finish. If they are metal, I would scuff them with a fine grit sandpaper then just give em up a couple coats. You should be good to go.

They are metal. I'll go with the fine grit sandpaper. Thanks for the confirmations.
