Default Parking Break Issues

After getting all my mods done to my new rig, the only complaint I have is the Parking Break. While yes my Parking Break still works, I have to pull the damn thing up so far its almost pointing straight up, and even then it barely works. My sled only has like 2k miles on it, so its not like its all worn out and needs to be replace.

I called Teraflex, and they say their lift really does not affect the Parking Break. I have asked the shop who put my lift on for input, they crawled around under to see if there was anything to do, and they said basically no.

What do I have to do to adjust/tighten up my Parking Break so that it works better? It really bugs me, as I often have to get out of the vehicle, and like to keep it running with the stick position in neutral and just pull the parking break leaver up to keep it from rolling.

It's possible that when your lift was installed they stretched or tore your parking break getting the springs in.

Ive been having this issue myself with my parking brake and i dont have my lift installed yet. my jeep only had about 1500 miles on it when it started and Ive never driven it with the brake on. Which would be the obvious way to wear it out so quickly. This is the first Ive heard of someone else having the issue.

My buddy has the exact same issue as well and he has about same mileage. I think it might be a 2010 issue.

They did not stretch or tear anything, I actually watched them unbolt everything and take my entire rear axle off my jeep. I looked at the cable myself yesterday, and it still looks brand new, I have not done any wheeling with it yet, still waiting on my rock rails to arrive.

Take it in for adjustment at your dealership. Mine has done it from the beginning. Almost but a big dent in my Rear Bumper hooking up my utility trailer as it rolled back on me on a damn near flat surface and I had the e brake all the way up

However, it has just recently been a pain in the arse once again. I was working on tightening up all my nuts and bolts underneath my JK and my 5 year old was in the drivers seat pretending to 4wheel when he accidently popped my JKU out of gear. It started to roll back on me... with the emergency brake engaged. He was crying hard as he thought he ran me over.

I will need to adjust it when I rotate my tires. However, I have gotten into the habit of shuting it off in gear to avoid any roll back. When I work on it I place a small piece of 2x4 behind a tire...just in case my son decides to pop it out of gear again..

Good to know. THX's 2k2wrangler as I was scratching my head how the H.E. double hockey sticks kind of tool do I need to adjust this Freaking Emergency Brake. Thus the reason I took it to the dealership. Learned a new thing once again from great JK members!

if it's in warranty take it to the dealership

After reading WoL getting bent over by his dealer, I am not going anywhere near a dealer with my rig, as my rig now looks almost identically to WoL rig, I will save my TBD dealer fight for something important. No use me getting black balled over a parking break adjustment.

It was a good learning lesson for both of us! I felt bad for my little guy as well because he really had the look of death on his face and the big tears thinking dad got run over! He learned a big lesson to not touch the stick shift as he reminds any kids that jump in our Jeep...don't touch the stick shift as our Jeep may hurt someone
