Default Parnelli Jones Dirt Gripz

Has anyone run the Parnelli Jones Dirt Gripz? They look like a great tire. Looks like they would be decent in the mud, not overly loud on the street, and they have a lot of siping and kerfs for the snow and ice. I would appreciate any info at all. Thanks~

I had a set of 35s on a F250 crew cab diesel that I owned. I put over 50k on those tires with admitedly only one rotation. They were quiet for an open tread, and they did great off road. These aren't really a mud tire, but more of a loose earth, few rocks, all around off road tire. That is not to say they won't do mud, they just aren't a specialized mud tire. They are very heavy for their size and the sidewall and tread is very thick rubber. Never did have a puncture or a flat. I personally love these tires and can only assume that they would do as well on a Jeep.

Thank you very much for the response. I love the look of the those tires. They just look mean. lol. Now I have to decide do I let my stockers wear out or just take the stockers right off and slap on a set of the PJ's.

Surely there must be some other people that have run these tires. Come on, please let me know what you think about them.

I have a set of 35’s on my Jeep Cherokee and they work just great. Also I just ordered a set for my new 09 wrangler Rubicon, so I guess that would prove that I'm sold on them. They’re tough on the rocks, quiet on highway and seem to balance out quite easily unlike some other tires I've tried to balance.

Thanks for the reply. I'm gonna run them on my 09 Rubi as well. I just have to decide if I am going to run the tread off of the stockers first or just switch them out.

Can anyone tell me how they work in the snow and ice. I'm pretty much sold on them, I would just like to hear how they are on snow and ice.

Snow and ice??? What's that?!? Like what you get out of the freezer?

Just kidding... Since I am in Alabama, I never had a chance to check them out in winter weather. They did very well on wet streets, but that is as close as we get on a regular basis down here. As far as when, only you can answer that. If it were me, I would probably run what you already have until you need new tires. No sense in them going to waste unless you have a specific purpose for the PJ's.

I will probably run the stock tires until worn out, unless I can find someone that wants to buy them. They look alright, but I can't imagine they work that great on snow and ice considering they don't have any siping. I really like the looks of the PJ's and I think they will work great in the ice and snow. I think the new Jeep will look tough with the PJ's on there. lol. But more importantly have more off road capability, which is extra important in the winter time.

Cool. Hope you enjoy them. Let me know how they work out for you. I am still contemplating PJs or KM2 going on mine. If you haven't seen any in person, the PJs look much better in person than pics. I think you will like 'em.

I have seen them in person. During the invasion of Iraq the normal tires they run on the HMMV's couldn't be produces fast enough, so we had, the regular ones, SSR's and the PJ's. Thats where I first saw them, and first fell in love with them.

I will let you know how they work out, but it's going to be a while yet before that happens. LOL. I need to get home from this God-forsaken place.
