Default Pentastar in a 2008??

My buddy ran his Jeep low on oil and ruined his engine. He has a 2008 with the 3.8 V6. I was wondering is it possible to put a 2012 3.6L V6 Penta in a 2008?? I know of somebody with a motor and trans, but can it be done?? Thanks

Would be hard to swap you would need computers and new tranny or find an adapter plate

If you have the motor and trans I would think you would need the computer and probably the wiring harness. Being that it hasn't really been done yet I am guessing I would probably try to find a Wrecked Jeep that still has the front end intact (good luck) just so you could pull any small things you need like sensors, brackets, ect.

You might find the entire system out there. Here in co, I know of a few guys who have done some custom hemi swaps on 2012's and up. You just might need to get hands on fab to make it fit.

Why go through that much trouble for the 3.6 when there is the HEMI option that actually has a kit available.

The Pentastar is a nice factory engine and a big step up from recent Wrangler engines, but if you have to replace the engine *and* all the wiring and harness, I'd go Hemi. Better tested and will cost the same or less.

I would think it would be a lot easier than a hemi or LS swap and cheaper actually depending in how much you spent on the engine, trans, wiring harness, and ecu. Is the engine and tranny mounting any different than the 3.8l?
