Default Performance camshaft?

I am surprised there has not been any discussions (that I have seen) discussing performance cams for this 3.8. Surely DC did not put the highest possible output cam in this thing. I have put a lot of performance cams in V8's over the years and 1 in a V6. The V6 was in an old Ford Bronco II with the 2.8 and it made a tremendous difference in torque. I think there may be some potential here. Any thoughts????

I also would be extremely interested in this. I have not done a swap myself, but everything that I read says this swap can really give a big boost.

Well I talked to Edelbrock and they have no plans for one and Crane Cams has not had any inquiries. I would think it will probably take someone haveing a custom regrind done a having good succuess for anything to happen.

to what extent can you go in duration and not interfear (sp) with the computer reading oxygen ? won't a bigger overlap cause the exhaust to be rich in fuel? I did a 280 dur 490 lift in a mustang in '83 and it was ripe in gas fumes in the exhaust but hauled a$$ !!!!. now maybe a milder cam with more lift without the duration .....which, I think, is what you'd want for lower end torque anyway.

You can't get wild like we did with the carb motors but there is a little room for improvement without a computer reprogram and more as reprogramming for this Wrangler comes on the market. I am currently testing a Unichip that is capable of reprogramming downloads via a USB cable download. This Unichip is capable of being reprogrammed to handle a bigger bumpstick.

So far I have seen good low end performance improvements with this chip, we are thinking it might improve fuel economy as well. I have unhooked it a couple of times to cofirm the difference and now I don't want to drive it without it.

Cams and a set of long tube headers should wake up the bottom end and top end ofr that matter. Although it would require removing the first cat.
