I had the hypertec on my Chevy 6.0 in my tow rig and it what we thought was a lifter knock. I removed the program and took it in and they ended up tearing it down and replaced the crank and cam shafts. If they would have had an excuse to get out of the repairs, believe me, they would have used it.

I got the Jet Stage II and saw zero benefit. I was convinced that it must be doing some good, but my Gas mileage was never above 15 mpg, so after 10k miles I pulled it off and still can notice no differece. If someone were to sneak it back on my engine tomorrow, I would not notice.

These things made their name in deisle trucks, but I think the gain is not worth the cost on these small engines. I definately noticed a big difference with the CAI, and a small difference with the Magnaflow exhaust, but zero with the Jet.

if you want it, I will sell it at 50% of list price plus shipping.

Question Anyone have experience with both?

I have the stage 1 Jet chip now. I will be installing my lift and 35's in the next few weeks and have thought about going to the Hypertech so that I can calibrate the Speedo. But... I would have to pull the Jet, right?

I can imagine selling the Jet and buying the hypertech. At least then I can reset the computer as needed. But, not if there is no point.

Help!

Default chips

I had the jet stage two for about three months, I thought it made a difference because I noticed the difference when I took it out. I put the hypertech in last week, it is hands down better by my seat of the pants dyno. plus I like the idea of being able to program it to run on regular gas or premium. there seems to be a little more umph in premium mode but its still pretty good in regular mode. plus it will reprogram the computer for tire size and gearing. and you can view or clear any trouble codes with it.

keep in mind I have an airaid throttle body, CAI and Magnaflow muffler so your results could be different.

I would not hesitate if you have the money its worth it. the trouble code reader and speedo calibrator alone is worh the extra loot in my eyes.

I guess the best description of the difference follows:

there is a hill on the way to work, with the jet chip I would lose about7-9mph keeping the throttle steady in 6th.

with the hypertech I only lost 3-4MPH keeping the throttle steady. plus it gets over the little lull of idle much quicker when taking off from a light.

both make a difference and are worth the money, but the added features and the little bit better performance made the hypertech more attractive to me.

hope this helps.
