Default Performance Chips/Programmers

Just been recently introduced to what Performance chips/programmers can do. I've done a little research on the Superchips and DiabloSport. Question is...are these devices a good investment, I mean, do they really make a noticeable difference?

Any insight would be great.

Default I think it does

I have had mine for a very short time with limited driving but from what I can tell, yes it does make a difference.

Browse around a bit more, tuners are a popular topic, plenty of threads to read through...

Thumbs up

Got my Superchips Flashpaq about two weeks ago. Definate perceived increase in horsepower and gained back the MPG I lost when I instlled the 33x12.5 tires. So from my persective it works very well.

MPG went from 11 to between 14 and 16 depends on my driving that day. so yes I love mine. I took a 200 mile round trip the other day with out the superchip and I was on empty before I got home. I installed the tuner and did the same trip and made it back with my fuel needle half way between 1/4 and 1/2 a tank.

I have a flashpaq and would say it's one of the best modifications I've done. The funny thing is, you don't notice the power increase nearly as much when you first program it as you do when you eventually go back to stock (to take it to the dealer for example).

Every time I go back to stock it feels like someone just hooked up a 1,000 pound trailer to my jeep and I cannot wait to reprogram it again.

Besides the performance benefits (and fuel economy if you can keep your foot out of it) you get tons of extras. Like the ability to adjust tire size and gear ratios. The ability to reset check engine lights. The ability to watch engine parameters to help you troubleshoot issues, etc, etc.

Part of the reason for not noticing all the power increases out of the gate is it takes a couple tankfuls to realize all that it delivers with the PCM relearn or 40 on/off key cycles of course with some driving in between. For me the butt meter definitely showed improvement out of the gate, and on long trips where I might be running through several tanks of fuel I can note fuel mileage improvements on each progressive tankful although diminishing returns.

Yep, I like my Flashpaq for my 6 speed Jeep a lot and I like my Fashpaq even better on my automatic Dodge Ram. It's definitely good stuff and the most cost effective power improvement you can do for your Jeep.
