Cool Performance upgrades

Thinking of doing some performance upgrades...Cold air intake, throttle body spacer and
catback exhaust, maybe a programmer. Will this help or hurt my fuel economy? Any thoughts on this?

Will let ya know when my intake, spacer, and Dynomax exhaust get here! No programmer for our 2011s yet, but I'm waiting for the vivid or b-dog to do something....
Gears will be next when I save some more pennies!

Programmer and gears are the only performance upgrades that you should look into.

Exhausts and cold air intakes do nothing for JK performance (consider these only for sound reasons), and intake/throttle body spacers are a complete waste and almost always hurt performance (proven nearly 10 years ago, yet JK owners still buy them?)

I agree with Ryan L, I have 5.13's and a Superchip and that is what makes all the difference. Now I do have a Cold Air Intake but that is because some guys was selling his K&N Intake on craigslist so I thought why not, but if I had to play the original $265. I would definately not get it cause it has done close to nothing but whistle when I step on the skinny pedal. Unless I get a deal on an exhaust like i did for the intake i would be getting it.

Intake and exhaust will help the engine as it does any engine. The 3.8 is a dog especially when adding bigger tires.. The programmer will do what's it's designed to do but, WHY not help the system by allowing air to flow much easier in and out. ( watch out for water though )

Gears are well worth the money, but if your not running a larger tire than their not worth it YET...

Spacers are kinda pointless on the drive-by-wire setup, but it's your cash and ego to please thinking or maybe your getting extra throttle response and a pony or two from it.

Do your research and and get the best deal you can find and let others know as they do their research. It's much appreciated, as I and many more will be doing.

I'm happy with what I spent and will report as I add each item separately for my own curiosity and testing...

I just installed the aFe throttle body spacer by itself with the stock intake and stock exhaust. I noticed a bit more response out of the throttle and no whistling like everyone complains about... Can't wait to get the aFe si intake installed followed by the Dynomax exhaust!!!

How can you say it has been proven for 10 years when the V6 3.8 has only been in the jeep for 5 years?

I think that the Jeep engine came out of an older model mini van? And has been around for many years.

If you want to get some performance gains out of your money (but don't expect to much). You have to do all three. You can do the exhaust alone and make it sound a little better. But if you do the air without a programer, you may actualy loose performance.
