Phase I... RUBICON EXPRESS long arm kit
Well I made my way up to NorCal to install the RE lift on my JK this weekend. What I can report is that install is not too bad, the only PIA is installing the rear lower control arm mounts. They have made it as easy as they can by using a keyed bracket that keys into an existing hole in the frame for prefect placement but drilling into the frame is ALWAYS a pain. Everything went really smoothly and the quality of the components is (as expected from RE) TOP NOTCH. One of my plans before wheeling it was upgrading the steering and much to my delight, the RE kit uses a new chromoly SUPER heavy duty drag link with larger tie rod ends.
I was planning to take pictures of it all along the way but completely forgot to.
What I have to report is that the Jeep handles AMAZING! The ride quality is so good I can hardly believe it. It feels GREAT on the road, stable, solid, and VERY smooth. I hit some pretty good size bumps in the road and my Jeep never even flinched. It soaked up the bumps like it was a desert car. I am just sooooo happy with it so far. I have had a LOT of experience with MANY lift kits and the quality and ride is hands down THE BEST!!!
I will be taking it wheeling the weekend I get my new transfercase and will report the results.
Oh, a little note, the stock steel 16" wheels will not work with this kit as the tie rod end on the new drag link does contact the rim. I had to put a spacer on it to clear for the drive home (still waiting on my wheel adapters for the new wheels and tires.
I will post up some pictures as soon as I get the wheels and tires on it. Looks like a big roller skate right now!

The RE 5.5 does not exist. I have the 4.5 + 3/4 spacers. This is the perfect set up for 37s. A real bumper and winch will drop the front about an inch. on the mentioned setup. JP
