Default Picking out new front bumper...hoop or stinger?

Hello

I'm getting an ACE Pro rear bumper/tire carrier and really soon after that I'm getting a new front bumper, planning to stick with ACE...

looking at the mid width one, big question is hoop or stinger?

I really want the stinger but seeing how its not a modular system, if I change my later I'm outta luck

Would love to hear from folks with stingers, I have dumb questions like how long does it take to get used to having that extra hunk of steel sticking out in front of you?

Any big pro's for the stinger? Or how about for the hoop?

Matthew

I've only seen a few stingers in person and about half of them looked great and the other half not so much...I think it depends on the angle and height

I just don't want someone to do a rapid stop in front of me and the stinger nails the back window of their minivan...

Depends on how big the stinger is....I've got the bfh shorty with the stinger and its smaller than my old smittybilt arc was which was HUGE...you could navigate would be road kill with it...line em up in the center hole and they are done for.....
I like smaller stingers but they have to be real ones that aren't flimsy tubes...I've got scuffs from Rock approaches and sliding the front off I use mine...love it....

BUT it is a personal choice find a bumper thread and look through Google it as well......
One thing about keeps is its a personal reflection and fun to build whether its used or not....

Good luck cantnwait to see what you chose, post up....

I had the smitty modular with the hoop and it was good- heavy bumper, but nice and compact. I got a crazy hair up my ass that I wanted a stinger and now I am seriously considering selling the sting I just bought 2 months ago to go back to a smaller unit.

It doesn't take too long to learn to drive with it...the toughest part is not swinging into those old spots like you used to do. Also- parallel parking is a little different too.

My other thought is to lop the stinger off and then just re-paint the bumper.

I have the cheap Chinese knock-off of the Smittybilt XRC stinger and honestly I like it. Not necessarily the bumper itself, but it was free so I'm not complaining. But I like having the stinger because I have a good visual reference of where the front-most point of my rig is at all times. And it's good for pushing through brush, small trees, etc. without sacrificing the entire front end of the Jeep. Eventually I'll get a different stinger bumper (probably BFH w/ Trail stinger to match my BFH rear), but it's not high on my list at this point.

I just ordered a stinger from Rugged Ridge. From the ones I've seen it gives JKs a rock krawler look. Also I've run into a couple if deers on the highway that cracked the grill. Stingers can be like a cow catcher...

I have the Ace stubby stinger. And I love it... although I was leery about it when it was first put on. It isn't too big, and is an awesome guide for space in front of the jeep... the thing is solid as hell too.

The leeriness came from realizing how bad it would be to t-bone someone. The top of the stinger is window level on most cars... and thats without a lift yet. Although I find because of it, I am more cautious when driving which isn't a bad thing.

There aren't a lot of stingers on the road around here... so the other issue its getting stared at by cops... but nobody has bothered me yet.

Stinger is always helpful to know your center line on trails and I think it looks pretty sweet as well.

I'm personally not a huge stinger fan...I don't wheel places where having a stinger would be all that useful and I'd rather have function than straight up looks (I'm not saying singers don't serve a purpose because they do, I'm just saying that singers would serve ME any benefits).

I'd personally go with something less bulky and would only get a bull-bar/hoop if I was trying to protect some lights from damage...
