Default A-Pillar Armor

Does anyone know of a fabricator that is producing bolt-on armor for the a-pillar of the JK's? A couple of the guys that I wheel with have put this armor on their TJ's, and it does help in amongst the tight trees.

I have a light bar for roof lights that covers my A pillar. I would think any of those would work or just get some 3M clear film if you are just worried about scratches.

I have no issues with scratches and pinstriping. It's the gouges and the bending and the crushing action that worries me. I'm looking for something that will distribute the load carried by the A pillar in the event of a low-speed flop. You know...the kinda thing that happens when you overestimate your Jeep's ability to stay stuck to the ground when you're off-camber in a 6 foot deep erosion "crack".

I'm good with replacing fender flares, but significantly damaging the A pillar could get VERY expensive in a hurry.

I've seen people tie a-pillar armor from the rock rail to their rack and I know in at least one case where this has helped in the case of possible damage from a tree.

Like you said the a-pillar is really a weak link one of the people I wheel with flopped her jeep (slow flop landing on dirt) and the insurance company almost totaled it out. Seems everything is tied off the a-pillar and the roll bar had a very small dent which was causing everything to be off a little and the doors weren't quite lined up. They literally had to replace the a-pillar and roll bar to get things to relax. So I think you're asking a good question.

That is a good question then. I didn't think about flopping my jeep and having that happen. Hopefully someone else can chime with a better answer.

I think he is looking more for the whole thing to be protected not just a corner beefed up a little.

Correctamundo

I'm looking for armor that would help prevent something like this:

Something like the vertical section of the D-pillar armor on this XJ...

You don't need an armor, you just have to use your brain when you wheel.

I've been in those situations when I wasn't sure if I was close or not to flopping before. Thankfully I haven't had that problem yet but I sure puckered up a few times.
