Default Pitbull rockers

according to the pitbull webside, the treadwidth on the 37x12.5 17 radial rocker is only 10.6 inches? Why would they be that narrow? I can't see that hey offer a wider size either. from the pics i've seen, they look alot wider than that. Does anyone have this particular tire that could measure the width of the tire, both tread and overall?

thanks

no one can answer this or is it just a really dumb question because they sure as shit don't look that narrow. I really like these tires but i don't like the skinny tires on lifted jeeps

asking anything on pitbull tires and you pretty much get crickets. everybody's caught up in the KM2 or MTR w/kevlar hype. not saying they're bad tires, but EVERYBODY runs them. asking guys on the trail and random people i see running them on the streets has given me enough confidence to have them slated for when my stockers run out (if they ever do). i'm pretty sure they offer wider ones if you're willing to go for a bias ply tire, but i'm not sure for the radials. i've spoken to a couple of guys online with radials but the only ones i've seen in person were bias. i love the look and from what i hear, they're great tires. there are a few forum members running them, but i forget who they are. hopefully someone chimes in with the info you need

My son is running 42" Pitbulls on his big Ford rig. His truck probably weighs 6500+ lbs and he loves the tires. They aren't any taller than his 40" super swampers though. They grip the rocks better than any others he's tried and has compressed them tight to the beadlock rims with no damage. With his 10.7 to 1 tc ratio, the tires seem glued to the rocks and ledges he climbs. Don't know how they would be on the road though, as the rig is no longer street legal.

OK I have 37x12.5x15 rocker radials and I will tell you that from sidewall to sidewall may be 10.?" but not the tread face. My rockers are wider than my buddies 40x13.5 Iroks on the tread by almost an inch (13.5 wide Irock 11.2" tread width, 12.5 Rocker 12.3"tread width) These measurements were taken two days ago.
Hard to see by the crappy cell phone pics but the inner side walls were lined up perfectly and you can see my Rocker sticks out more than an inch on the supposively larger tire.
I have also compared these tires to a 16 wide bogger and he was only 1.5 inches wider on the tread. These rockers are massive for a 12.5 wide tire, noone believes me that they are only 12.5 I couldnt imagine what a pitbull 14.5 wide would look like!

The 37" bias rocker is an anomoly when it comes to sizing. It is in fact quite short 35 - 35.5". The radials are MUCH closer to their advertised sizing. I've never run a tire with so much grip as the Rocker bias and if they used the same rubber compound in their radials they will be excellent. I really want my next tires to be Rockers as well but I run into an issue. I want a 39.5 - 40" tire. Radials are either to tall or too short. Bias has the 39.5! I want a 13.5" wide tire. The bias is 16.5!!! Way wide. What's a Jeeper to do?

Yeah the traction from these tires is incredible. It will be hard to justify buy any diffrent tire for awhile.
How are you liking the maddogs in comparison to the rockers?
You can tell once you run these tires that you bought them from an offroad company not a company dabling in offroad products

The 10.6 number is the tread width. The 12.50 is the section width (The fat part of the sidewall)

Other 37x12.50x17's

KM2 - Section Width 12.5 - Tread Width N/A
MTR/K - Section 12.5 - Tread 9.7
Geolander - Section 13 - Tread 9.8

Amazing what a few minutes of research will show. Looks like 'every' mfg makes the tread width narrower than the section width. Go figure...
