Puddlz wheels and tires looked BADA$$ but my 35's would tuck up under the flare at flex. His would rub on the fender edge and sounded at every flex like it was ripping it off. I agree with the 4.5 back spacing. I am running 35 x 12.5 x 18's (factory sahara wheels) with a 4.5 back spacing. Thet stick out 1 inch or so and at flex tuck up under the fender. PERFECT!

Inspection shouldn't be an issue if you're keeping the stock wheel/tire combo(a.k.a. Inspection tires). Throw on the stock set and drive on in. You'll look like a fool the day you go to the inspection station, but once you got the sticker, swap 'em out for your 35's.
As for the cops, I never really heard of anyone in Jersey having problems with tires sticking out. Of course if you ever get pulled over, just tell the officer you've got flairs on order, and hopefully he'll let ya go, or at the very least give you a fix-it ticket.

Depends on the Backspacing

Hey POTO that's funny stuff. I will look silly the day I go for inspection. putting those skinny a_ _ wheels back on. I was hoping to sell the stock wheels/tires to offset the cost of the new tread.

I am not sure I want to have "that looking over my shoulder feeling" all the time, or to give the cops an excuse to pull me over... I like to roll stealth. I am going to ask my neighbor who just so happens to be a NJ State Trooper. We will see what he says.

The back spacing thing... If you off set the tire extending past the fender using a deeper backspace then don't you risk rubbing on the inside of the wheel well going with a 12.5 tire width?

Thanks again to all for you comments /suggestions.

NJ cops are notorius for enforcing the fender rule. If the tires even hint at being wider than the flare, they will ticket you. My friend has been pulled over in his pickup with wider tires several times and had to buy huge Bushwhacker flares to cover them. They can figure out a BS story and give you the 72 hour fix it ticket and you are screwed.
