PML Transmission Pan
I was searching for a new trans pan as mine is now leaking after my stock front shaft's boot slapped it... I found the PML site that has an oversized aluminum trans pan with a drain plug for the JK and am wondering if anyone here is running it and if it safely clears the skid plates, drive shaft, etc. They have pictures on their site of a JK Rubicon with this installed, but all the skid plates are removed in the pictures.
depending on how off centered your front axle is, the chances of you continuing to hit the trans pan with your drive shaft will keep happening.
you'll have to replace the oem ds with a new aftermarket, narrower 1310 shaft.

as mentioned, unless you address the problem that caused your leak, you'll still have the problem regardless if you replace your pan. recentering your axle will help but really, you should look into getting a new 1310 aftermarket drive shaft. you can aways just reinstall your existing pan with RTV
I already have installed a 1310 shaft, that problem is solved. I just figured that if I had to pull the pan maybe I should put a tougher pan with more capacity on while I am at it. They hold about an extra 1.5 quarts that should help with cooling.. At $205 they are not all that expensive.

this is a rock krawler heavy duty deep sump transmission pan. not only does it have greater capacity and a drain plug but, it's made out of laser cut 3/16" steel, a 1/4" bottom and comes with a puncture resistant life time warranty. with this, you can ditch your skid plate, have the benefit of operating your jeep at steep angles without worring about starving your tranny and you'll now have an easier time servicing it

i just finished a write-up on this and will have it posted in the next few days.
the whole point of going this route was so that i could get rid of my skid plate. yes, i am totally comfortable running this pan as is.

I have the PML transmission pan and it does give you a little more fluid and it is finned for cooling. I’m not sure how much the fins help with that but there if a flange for one of the bolt that hit my 1310 drive shaft under extreme articulation. I ground down the flange about .05 and it has not hit again. The reason I went with the PML was to get a drain bolt. I hate changing the fluid with out one.
i had the same problem as the op. i bought a new coast 1310 and it still hit. i have my axle centered by the way. i bought the new rock krawler pan and love it. it has already taken two hits and held up very well. the new pan is stronger so it does not rip like the factory one did even with the contact of my coast drive shaft. i used a lube locker gasket and it seems to work very well. rtv would not seal after the contact but the lube locker is holding strong. only thing is the crossover is exposed but a new rk long arm will cover up that with there bracket. your limiting factor is the crossover pipe now. goodbye pain in the ass skid.
