Default Power locks

Bought 2012 JKU with no power locks. Regretting it now local stereo place can do after market for $500. Anyone know if it can be done easily by getting parts from jeep so they are stock?

Don't do aftermarket. You can install stock power latches, and that will work exactly the same as stock locks. I got all the parts for under $200 from mopar-wholesale.com, but that is for a 2dr+rear gate. For 4dr you'll have to spend a bit more. $500 for aftermarket locks is a rip off. Search this forum for a write up, it has been done already. The install is pretty easy to do.

Originally a hard top, soft top at moment. How does that relate to locks?

If you switch them out I really doesn't pertain to you. If you just run you soft top I say don't waste the money. If you keep anything valuable in your jeep put it in the lock boxes and leave the doors unlocked. If someone wants in your soft top they'll just cut into it and take what they want anyway. Then your out at least $500 to replace it. This happened to a friend of mine. I had a never locked the doors to my TJ in over a year and never had anything stolen. My 2 cents.

You can skip on the wiring harness if you don't feel like paying money for something that can be made with some spare wires / connector.
