Default Power steering with 37's

Hi. I have a 07 JKU Rubicon, running 37's. I don't have a steering sector shaft brace kit...YET, but working on it as hard as possible. Looking @ the JKS, should work with my JKS track bar. Anyway, to my original problem...for the third time so far, today, my power steering has left the building. While doing some fairly mild wheeling, I had pulled up on a rock with the drivers front tire, to flex it up some, and upon backing off the rock, I once again found myself feeling like I was trying to turn the steering wheel with the engine turned off. The power steering simply goes away, stays gone 5-10 seconds, and then is back. I had no more problems with it today after that, but like I said, that's the 3rd time it has happened while wheeling offroad. Anybody have any idea what's going on? I would LOVE some PSC assist, but I'm still saving up for the brace kit at the moment. I know the 37's can be rough on the stock steering components, especially if you get one of them against something, but I was not in a rut or anything, just backed down off the rock onto flat ground.

No idea what it could be, but my first thought is have you checked the fluid level?

Yeah, the level is about 2/3 of the way up from the min mark to the max mark, in other words, closer to max. It should be well within the recommended range, as it should operate properly even at the min level, if it's not below that point.

Since its a serpentine, and it appears to be fine, I'm sure it'll be the pump or steering box, one or the other, whichever's more expensive...LOL. I figure it could be the box, the pump isn't making a bit of noise or anything, but I really have no idea.

I know you said you checked the level on the PS fluid, but just for a "what if I do this...." measure, maybe drain it and replace it? Not sure if this would even help the situation or if it should even be something to do with any sort of outcome....

I agree! I changed my fluid almost a year ago and at that time i went to a jiffy lube, bad decision. The only thing they did was suck out the old fluid and put new fluid in, which left some dirty fluid in. Recently I had the dealership flush out the system before adding new fluid and I notice an improvement.

Ok, thanks guys. I'll consult the dealership about doing a flush, as I don't know any way to get all the fluid out, myself.
