Default Power steering pump help

I have A 2008 JKUR on 35s & for 7 years all was good . In the past 2 months I have gone through 2 new dealer installed power steering pumps! A week ago I went to 37s and guess what.......my power steering went yet again. Is there something I am missing ? Are other people on 35s or 37s having this problem? What can I do ? Any help would be great. Thanks Ed

I've been on 37's for a long time now, never had any issues with the power steering pump - steering box yes, but pump, no. I resolved my steering box issues by going hydro assist... if you've considered possibly going that route, then maybe look into the PSC high volume pump to go with it?

Don't have the issue on my Jeep with a 3.5 inch lift with 35s. However I have gone through 2 on my 2500HD that has a 6.5 inch lift with 32s.

Did the dealer also replace your resevoir? Sounds like your not getting enough fluid to your pump causing your pump to burn out. Maybe the res is clogged. Try jacking up your front end and bleeding the system by turning the wheel full lock to full lock (engine off of course). If your is bubbling there is air in the lines. If there is no movement of the fluid whatsoever your res may be clogged

what hydro sysem you running and hows it holding up? Was thinking about porting my box and picking up a redneck or agr ram keeping my stock res and pump. I hear theres lag doing it this way though even when using a 1.5" ram. Just cant see dropping $1600 or whatever it is for a full psc setup

When it was up & running I could see fluid moving around good in the reservoir . Its something with the pump. When it goes it covers the whole engine bay in fluid>

I ended up going PSC... but mainly only because my box was toast and at the time Redneck Ram was backed up, plus had no new/refurbed boxes in stock with no ETA. PSC had a box on the shelf ready to ship same day, so I sucked it up and paid the premium for their "Extreme duty" steering box. I also kept stock res and pump though, I wanted a little lag after hearing feedback that it could be rather twitchy otherwise. (though while I kept the stock res, I did add a cooler, which of course also effectively increases the fluid level). If my pump ever dies though, I plan on adding their high volume pump.

With that setup, on road it maintains pretty good road feel, no issues with over steer - if you didn't know better, you wouldn't realize it had assist while driving. Offroad, huge difference. Aired down 37's, lockers on, and still turns easily.

Thanks for the feedback. So you just got there box and ram with all the hoses and fittings correct? Any idea if you got there 1.75" or 1.5" ram?

Correct, along with the cooler as well. 1.75" ram.
