Preparing to plunge...
To make a long story short, I'm getting ready to do a lot more to my JK much sooner than I thought. The original plan was to keep it stock for awhile, which I did, for the first year. Then I just installed the bumper and winch, and the TF 1" spacers to bring it up a little bit. But now, circumstances have changed, and I find myself in a position to fast forward to what I thought would take a couple more years to do.
Now the plan is 3.5" RE lift, regear (4.88), and 35's.
I'll continue to do my homework, search, and read, but would welcome any advice that comes along, especially from those of you who are running that same setup and if you have any regrets, 20/20 hindsight, etc.
I've also got a couple basic questions like:
Do I need a computer tuner or not?
Any other commonly overlooked things after lifting and regearing?
I would also really appreciate seeing photos of your JK with 35's and want to know what size rim they are on. I've got a buddy who is giving me his old 35's for now, but I still need wheels, and will eventually be looking at probably Toyo MT's or BFG KM2's.
I'm excited about building this rig into what I know I want, but it's still a big step and I've got the Jeep butterflies going into it (I know many of you know the feeling!). But I know I'll be glad I did. The Jeep has always been my enabler: it enables me to get out and do stuff, to seek out activities and adventures, instead of sitting around taking it easy; plenty of time for sitting when I'm 90.

Consider 5.13s if you have an auto.
Make sure your lift includes adjustable contol arms (I'm not familiar with RE lifts).
Get the superchips flashpaq, it rocks. Jump straight to the 91 octane or towing tunes, IMO. Check the monster thread on this.
If you want 37s in the future, get enough lift to "do it once" or plan to trim your fenders or go to flat fenders.
Figure out what you're going to do with your 35-inch spare. I added the Teraflex extension bracket and the daystar tailgate bumpstops. It's on tight until I save the cash for a rear bumper + tire carrier.
