Default Pretty sure shocks arent supposed to do this...

So i put on my new set of Bilstein 5100's to replace my rough-riding rough-country shocks...and when i pulled them out, i gave them a quick compression to see how they were holding up. Whatcha think?

They never re-extended lol. All four compressed, and stayed. The bilsteins were a PITA to even get to STAY compressed lol.

My superlifts did the same thing that's why it was a rough ride there is nothing wrong with the shocks that's how those are made cheap shocks and not really made to go on the JK

Surprised you haven't already had an accident using those, literally.

Again that's how those are made my friend just got a brand new RC lift and the shocks are the same way I told him it's going to ride stiff and you will be changing those shocks soon

Those shocks are not gas pressurized which is why they they don't "re-extend"

That's what I was thinking also. Thanks for the clarification.

Well i suppose i'll swallow the idiot card on this then lol!! Guess i just figured that any shock inherently should have some kind of rebound action in order to work properly. Without it, this means that the springs are doing about 95% of the work, right? Maybe a good thread opportunity for someone to school us up on shocks....

Rough Country describes these shocks on their website as "enclosed gas shocks". Is this different than a "gas-pressurized" shock? Just curious....
