Default Pro Comp Xtreme M/T's

Ok. I have to ask those that have the experience and knowledge on the tires. I just got back from my local Discount Tire shop (where they are trying to find the reason for the wobble between 45-50, for the fourth time) and I mentioned that I might be interested in switching to the Pro Comp Xtreme M/T's. Without hesitation, the manager told me to stay away from the Pro Comp tires. He indicated that they do not hold up and are prone to breaking down, wearing unevenly and separating after a relatively short time. He said that they have had nothing but problems with them and said that I would be better off staying with the Goodyear Wrangler MTR's or the BFG's. I must have looked at him a little funny, but he stayed true to his opinion.

I personally like the look and design of the Xtreme M/T's and this was the first I had heard anything negative about them. Is he off his rocker, or is there some basis for his warning?

Interested to hear the feedback.

I ran 33x12.50's and 35x12.50x17's on my last Dodge ram. The 33's came off after 30,000 and I sold them with at least 5-6/32 of tread on them and they wore even. My 35's were on till I traded it(12000) and wore great. There were all terrains though. I think I am going to put Xtreme AT's on my new jeep. I dont know anyone who has had problems with pro comp tires and I worked in aftermarket store and am a parts manager at a dealership now.

I have the Procomp MTs but I can't say that I'm especially psyched with them. They wear pretty fast and are nothing special when it comes to off roading. They aren't bad, its just that I would like to try BFGs before I'd pass a final judgment on them.

procomps are great tires

you were given a sales pitch!!!

they dont sell many of these tires, as they still have to get them through 4wheel parts, i got the same speech when i was looking at purchasing tires from discount tire

i have over 15k on my procomp extreme m/t's they are wearing great, hardly noticable
not any louder then they were the day i had them put on, dont flat spot in cold weather, the rubber compound is still soft as day 1

i am very happy with them

Question - Does that dealer sell Pro Comps? Maybe he has a higher margin on GoodYears or what not.

Though I run the PC XMTs and like them; they are quiet, have an agressive pattern, handle well on the street, and seem to wear well, I have only been running them for 4000 miles or so.

I got the road hazard and It'd ease your mind if you're set on these tires.

I have the extreme AT's on my truck, 14K wearing great. I had the AT's on my old cherokee, 25K and wearing great before I sold it. My dad has the AT's on his truck, about 30K and no problems.

I agree with the other posters that you were just given a sales pitch.

wear fast?

I have 15,000 miles and still have over half the tread left.

they balance decent for any MT as well. I plan on buying
another set when these wear out.
