Since going to 39s I decided to skip the truss/gussets/tubes process and go right to the Dynatrac setup, including ball joints. Switching from 4x88s to 5.13. Decided to leave the rear alone (except gears) and leaving the Chromoly shafts out back. Anyone with experience think thats a bad idea?
Another question, for those who have experience, I have a 4" lift...I'm considering adding 1" spacers to not limit up-travel so much when I do the bump stop adjustments...but I have concerns about being too high now. I ask about this in another thread and got the idea to buy relocation brackets for the shocks to help with the drop...which I did buy those (and still waiting for them). Has anyone experience that a 5" lift can be too high?
Order it 68-70" WMS and without brackets and put high clearance control arm mounts and shock mounts on it. The KM3's run really small, like a big 37 so you can get by with pretty easy with 68" WMS. Order the ulimited with build in caster for 4" of lift. I would rather go with the fusion 4x4 hybrid 44/60 though which is roughly the same price but much stronger than a PR44.

You mean weighted right? Mine measure 37.4 with just 27PSI and weighted under the JK. I think they measure 38.5" unweighted.

38" tires is where we would see axle failures with the PR44. Front R&P failures are almost non-existent. 35 sp RCVs helped but they could fail too where they taper down. A 44/60, (44 RG but with full 60 outers) worked out very well. The issue with them is that they need to be 68.5" instead of the standard 65.5" (they also require 5 on 5.5" or larger bolt pattern). Rear 44 R&P failures weren't uncommon with 37" on heavy JKUs. 37's were also near the limit with the PR60 HP on really heavy JKUs. Failures aren't as common as the 44 but still a concern.
This recommendation is based on drivers that really wheel their rigs. A stock axled pavement pounder can get by with basically any size tire as long as they understand JK front axle housings are weak at best and JK factory ball joints aren't much better.
There are a people that can make any part live. The connection between the brain and the foot is crucial. One guy can make a Dana 35 live forever and the next guy breaks it the first time out.
I wheel mine 10-15 times a year ( have 2 Jeeps). I have had 37s on it for years...both front and rear axles are completely stock save the 4.88s now and the rear chromoly. I rock climb.
