Unhappy Problem with Airraid??

Hey everyone, just installed the AirRaid intake. Love the sound, but questioning the whistle noise. The noise occurs when I barely push the floor pedal in and is really annoying. I had a buddy suggest that the hose clamps needed tightening but that didn't fix it! I also see no holes anywhere in the system. Any suggestions would help!

Nope. It's normal. I hated it at first, now I kinda like it.

Mine does not whistle and none of them I ever have had whistled. Did you over tighten any clamps and distort the plastic tube? I have seen that one time on a Chevy pickup.

1) I do see a big difference. I love how it sounds and I have a considerable difference in power

2) I'm not sure the whistling is from the Airaid or other CAI as much as it is from the stock throttle body. The CAIs just allow you to hear it because it is more open than the stock filter housing. There are TSBs on the DC site for other DC vehicles where they have the dealer put a bead of RTV on the throttlebody to stop the whistling. This is probably the source of the whistling on the JKs.

Mine does it too but not all the time. When it does happen it's under load and at 2000-2500rpm but I got use to it. Definitly made a difference in power and MPG. I installed it at a half a tank and got an extra 20miles out of it. I figure I should get at least an extra 30 miles on a full tank of gas.

Ditto. I Highly recommend the Air Raid CAI That whistle noise is more like a hissing sounds. The noise is the throttle bottle making the noise. It's a noise you couldnt hear before because the stock air box was sooo restricted. The noise is normal and can be heard on just about any car that has a CAI.

Sounds great dont it?

Mine is a true whistling sound (high pitch) not the normal growling sound. I agree with HUMONGO with it being the throttle body not the CAI. I've had a number of cars with CAI's but haven't heard it with them. I pretty sure I heard it slightly before I installed the AIRAID. But like I said above I got use to it fairly quickly and it only happens at 2000-2500rpm. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the colder air that we have been having lately because this is when I started hearing it even before the AIRAID.

I only hear mine over 3000 rpms, the stereo can overcome the sound! I felt like it is a little more responsive with the Air Raid, they claim 13-15 hp gain.
