Default PROBLEM!! Rubi Express 3.5 lift. Broken Shock

Broke my SECOND passenger side rear shock today while out riding the trails. I believe a couple others have had the same issue. I only realized there was a problem as I was driving down the highway, took a sweeping corner, and my ESP light went off and the engine came to a halt. The first time the same shock broke, same thing happened. I've had it checked by Central 4wd who did the install (after the 1st break). What the hell is going on with this? They must know something is up!

Ive been hearing about it too, but it hasnt happened to me....
Maybe it has something to do with the rear track bar relocation bracket, making contact with the shock.
Which would explain why it hasnt happened to me, because I took it off, and put in the adjustable FT track bar instead

You think the adjustable track bar will help? Seems RE should come through with a fix. Aren't the track bars 5-600?

Im not sure if its the sure fix...but I dont see what else would cause that to happen...
Where did you get your lift kit from?
Have you called them or RE and asked them about this problem?

I had a problem with my front track bar a while ago, I bent it enough that it made my axle off center and couldnt get it back by adjusting it.
I called Jason at Redrock4x4 where I bought the kit from, he called RE and I had a new bar on my door step in 4 days free of charge

I have read about this problem in another thread somewhere, so maybe if this is really happening to a lot of people (drop bracket hitting the rear shock) then RE needs to know about it and possibly fix it.

I just know it hasnt happened to me (knocking on wood now) and I dont have the drop bracket installed.
I got my FT track bar from Dave at Northride4x4, it is under $200 and free shipping.

Did you have the stock front track bar? I have run into the same problem with my front being maxed out too. Please share more info or links!

I bought the set up from Central 4wd here in Portland. RE sent a replacement shock the first time direct to my house. That's all cool but I'd really like to make sure I get the problem fixed correctly. Doesn't seem like I should have to pay to get additional stuff for the kit to be safe.

Well, thanks to Eraser76, I also discovered what my other problem was with the adjustable front track bar RE sent. I was continually adjusting mine as well! Looked at it this AM and...

Good thing is RE said they were aware of BOTH issues and they are send ing out parts today. Looks like they are working on an adjustable track bar for the rear that eliminates the brackets for the rear. Guess that leaves me with a mall crawler until they find a solution!

Glad to hear that they are working with you to get this all worked out. Either way it's easier than trying to get something done on the elise!

Is anyone having these problems with the 4.5" lift? Just wondering since it uses the same track bar relocation bracket as the 3.5".

Well this is all great to hear after I just had the RE 3.5 and 1 inch MORE bodylift installed to run the 37's I had sitting in the garage.
