Default Problem with TPMS after 35's

hey guys, just installed 315/70-17's and want to run 30-32 psi but my TPMS wont allow it and they wont reset...It's driving me nutz!! I've heard that if you touch each one with a strong magnet it'll reset them. Not sure i want to try this just yet, scared it might screw them up....wondering if anyone else has heard of this? Or, if anyone knows any other way to reset them??

Thx in advance,

Tony

If you just installed tires and left the sensors on the wheels then the air pressure in the new tires must match the existing system pressure range to get the warning to go off. If you are going to run different pressure then you'll need to get the system reflashed. Regardless the system is not a continous monitoring system, you have to operate the vehicle for a few miles to get it to reread the current pressure in the new tires.

I've already driven about a 100 miles on these new tires and the system keeps wanting more pressure.
What do you mean be "reflashed"? is it something the dealership needs to do or, is it as simple as disconnecting the negative battery terminal for a few minutes? I thought that the Hypertech programmer would take care of this problem...but it just re-adjusted the speedo..(starting to think that thing was a total waste of money...lol)

not necessarily...i was told, by WOL, the proper tire pressure for 315/70-17's is between 29-32psi. Any more that that, the outer edge of the tread doesn't even touch the ground....and I really would like to get even tire wear. Also the ride at 30psi is way better than at 35...

That AEV module looks really nice...wish i saw that before i bought that Hypertech. Anyone want to buy a Hypertech programmer???? only used once!!!

The tires will ride better with the lower PSI, but the computer still thinks that you should be running the same PSI that you were in the stockers unless you reset the threshold. Stock it is about 35-37 psi to keep the light from coming in. The only way to correct this is using the AEV Procal, or the Superchip programmer.

i agree - AEV Procal is the way to go. Very user friendly and you can just set TPMS to 0 theshold and never worry about the annoyance again...

that kind of defeats the purpose of the TPMS all together, I don't want to do that.....I'd love to keep the system working, just set it to 30psi instead of 37psi...
going to the dealership tomorrow. Hopefully they're 'Starscan' unit can adjust it. I'll let ya'll know.

Thanks for all the feedback

The AEV Procal will let you set the pressure to whatever you want. I'm running 28 and set the TPMS to 24. I wouldn't set it to 30 if you want to run 30 to 32 or the light will come on every time the weather changes. If the dealer can't or won't do it I'd get the Procal.
