Installed 87 octane tune. ~ Installed without flaws or hiccups.
I set my fog lights to stay on when the high beams are on. ~ Works perfectly
Set my turn signals to be my daytime running lights. ~ Works perfectly
Lowered my cooling fan settings to come on Low speed at 200 and high speed at 215 (From Low at 215 and High at 230, I think.) ~ Hasn't been warm enough to kick on that I can tell.
Changed speed limiter from 99 mph to 105 mph. ~ Didn't test, just wanted to see if it would hold the setting, it did.
Changed TPMS from 29lbs (I think) to 15lbs. ~ Tires have 35lbs, so can't tell for sure if it works.
Checked throttle management and it was set to "SuperChips Map". ~ Seems to have more response.
Adjusted tire size to correct speedo. ~ MPH indicated on dash is as close at perfect match to GPS I could get. Was of 8mph at 70mph.
Data Logging option doesn't work. ~ Says not compatible with vehicle.

As far as "seat of the pants" feel, it does feel quite a bit more "peppy" than before. I have a lot of added weight from a stocker and it seems that mid-throttle has a lot more grunt and response than before. It seems that the shifting is a bit more accurate now, but I'll need more city driving to get a good feel for it.

Let's be honest, these programmers do make a difference, but it's not a huge dramatic difference. Your mind wants to believe that "its so much better" because you dropped some cash or "this didn't do a thing to make my jeep better" because you thought this would be a Hemi upgrade. I personally feel a difference. I spent years on the drag race scene and have a realistic idea of what a minor upgrade really is. I really didn't buy the tuning part to be able to race or make me go fast, I got it to help with the off-set of having bigger tires and a lot more weight making my Jeep sluggish. I feel that it has helped, but playing with the other tunes and settings could make a more noticeable feeling, not sure.

I can tell you that with the added weight of 5 35" tires, winch, huge tire carrier, bumpers, rock rails, 50 light bar etc, and lifted, I was definitely slower 0-60 than a stock unlimited.

Stock unlimiteds 0-60 time is around 8.7 or so. With all of my added weight, bigger tires etc, I'm back to stock 0-60 times, 8.8 sec, without giving it a serious try. I would say that the SuperChips HAS made a difference. I just can't tell you how much exactly. If I HAD to guess, I would say a couple of seconds AT MOST. For the added $179 to change my FlashCal to a FlashPaq, I'm happy. (However, I feel it should have been cheaper, like $150 for loyalty and retention.)

Wow, thank you JDrew for taking the time to give us that comprehensive review. Looks like I'll be $179 poorer in the very near future.

Not a problem.

I do want to add, I normally get about 11.4 mpg around town. I reset it this morning, I've driven several times today and it's sitting steady at 13.9 mpg avg. Even if it's inaccurate, it's still an improvement in mpg prior to the programming.

for those who are updating a flashcal.... are you returning it to stock before doing the upgrade?

Great info guys....thanks for posting it up. Looks like I will be making the upgrade also.
Not sure if I want to do exhaust and intake first though. I have read in other posts on programmers that you
get the most benefit it you do this.....not sure.

Default FlashCal to Flashpak Conversion...here are my results

I called the company and asked about this upgrade. They said they would notify me when it was available. About 6 weeks later I was told it was now available as a download. So I called them just to verify what I was getting. They said I was getting the FlashPak wih the upgrade so I gave them the credit card and here came an email with the link. First off, you must return the vehicle to stock before plugging any upgrades in. Secondly, I had to uninstall all Spark programs from the computer and then go ahead with the download. They say it is supposed to do this automatically but mine did not. Download took about 10 minutes or so. Then I got the dreaded "Download Failed" message. Tried it again. Same result. Called them back. They say some computers won't get it done for whatever reason. Went to the other computer and the download sailed through. Unit is tethered to the computer during all of this. They say some people just can't get the download to work and will have to send their FlashCal in.
Went apprehensively to the Jeep...plugged it in. It will tell you when to turn on or off the ignition but DO NOT start the vehicle. I then followed the instructions. I reset TPM to it's lowest setting of 20pps. I set the tire size at 32.5". Then went into the programming. You are offered 5 tunes: crawl, tow, 87octane, 89 octane and 92 octane. I chose 87 because I don't need to be feeding the beast caviar. I asked them what would happen if you chose 92 octane but used 87 gas...they said it would ping and knock and could cause some damage, so don't try it.
It took about 5 minutes so you need to just wait it out. All the dash lights were flashing during this time. Scary. (Oh, it also read and saved all the stock settings before doing this which took a little time.) Finally the lights went off. Silence. I unplugged the thing and climbed in. It started, which was a huge relief.
After driving for a few days I do think it is a little more responsive from a stand-still. The in-town mileage has gone from 12.5 to 14.5, not great but take what you can get. I have not done the other tunes yet but it is as simple as plugging it back in and choosing the one you want; you don't have to revert everything back to stock and start over. Is it a dramatic difference? No, but then again I will take 2mpg. I have a highway trip coming next week and will see what that brings. Stay tuned.

Thank you so much for that update and warnings. Not a huge improvement is what I expected, since you were already used to the flashcal, therefore you are really only feeling the improvements of the tune, which confirms that the flashcal is responsible for some 75% of the ''very noticeable difference'' that those who go straight to the flashpaq are talking about.

2 mpg is enough for me to go ahead with it I think...

Exclamation Another Update.

Just returned from a road trip with these results.
The Jeep absolutely is better on the road. More responsive. Better throttle response and acceleration.
Best of all, mileage has gone from 14.5 to 16.2 overall. Still not great but certainly better than the 12mpg I started with.
I am going to try one of the higher octane tunes in the coming weeks and will report those results, but from my point of view, this is worth doing.

Almost a 2 mpg improvement will pay for the upgrade in no time, I think I'll do this this weekend! Thanks azphoto.
