Default ProComp Lift Quality

That's what came on the JKU I just bought....allegedly a 4" but looks like all stock control arms so springs and sway bar links etc only type lift.

What is the consensus on the quality of this brand? Jeep seems to ride ok...little squirrelly at highway speeds.....which I don't like. I am going to start getting into it today...squirrely could be air pressure or tires....it has 35" MTZ's that are fairly beat...right front is done so that could be the squirrely.

Thoughts?

Regretfully bought my JKU (used) with a PC 2.5" lift. It was flighty and rode rough.

I later ditched it and went to a Rock Krawler lift. Never looked back and just wish I would've bought new and did it right the first time.

Sorry but PC is in the low end of quality IMO.

Well I think the consensus with Procomp, rough country and Rubicon exp. Is they are cheap
In Complete kits that for the most part don't include any parts to address castor or pinion for
Steering or handling. With the exception of cam bolts they use, which is not good . Most people
That install these brand kits usually end up spending tons of money on parts , ie Adj CA's ,
Track bar brackets , trackbars, etc. Just saying. Have fun with your Jeep Man........
With the flightiness your experiencing , yeah tires, and you probably have low castor, check
Toe....

That seems to be the consensus from what I've read....it's cool...I originally was thinking buying one with add ins would save me time and money but I am pretty fussy....so probably most things will be replaced anyways.

I got a great deal on it so no worries either way...I had a Rock Krawler on my last rig and it was awesome.

I want to do a Dirt/Plan man type setup anyways and keep the lift small and figure out the shock travel etc...combined with some flat fenders.

We will see.

I think the first two sentences answer the third. As you lift higher, the pinion tilts up, the caster goes down, the steering gets flighty. It could be that you do have stock arms and nothing was done to correct the caster, or maybe you have cam bolts - and they have slipped.

Throw it on an alignment rack and get a printout (don't pay for a full alignment, you only need the 'before' numbers). Stock caster is a bit over 4*. Probably down under 3* with that lift height.

Anyway, you say that it rides ok, so rather than scrapping the lift based on a bunch or "procomp sucks" comments, try and figure out why it handles the way it does...

Oh I plan to...I am reading all of the Dirt/Planman posts I can find on lifts....I am going to add flatties and figure out my bumpstops and shock combos to get some flexy flex...it has enough height already.

I will probably add some decent control arms that are adjustable though...We'll see...just taking it all in.

I've got the pro comp lift also.... Dealer installed. I knew nothing about suspension setup prior to coming here. I regret buying it lifted but still love the look, I'm slowly building up parts to correct some of it's issues. Modifying it is half the fun of jeep ownership. As far as flightiness it's not to bad with my km2s it does have bump steer issues and rides like a goat but so far no death wobble. Still I love my jeep and am looking forward to tinkering with it!!
